GPI Atlantic is a non-profit research and education organization that has created a Genuine Progress Index for Nova Scotia. This comprehensive report provides Nova Scotia with its first integrated set of progress measures that assess how the province is doing socially, economically, and environmentally. This 2008 Genuine Progress Index, which updates and completes 12 years of intensive research and development, presents the most recent available evidence on all 20 components of the Nova Scotia GPI (trends in health, crime, education, wealth, income, economic security, employment, and volunteer work to greenhouse gases, air pollution, fisheries, forests, transportation, energy, waste management, agriculture, and water quality).

The POWER Study is a multi-year project funded by Echo: Improving Women’s Health in Ontario, an agency of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC). POWER is examining gender differences in access to care, as well as quality and outcomes of care for the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the province. A comprehensive two-volume report and interactive website tool will serve as evidence-based tools for policy makers, providers, and consumers in their efforts to improve health and reduce inequities among the women and men of Ontario.
